
MCPF Penang in collaboration with the Penang State Government, PDRM and Universiti Sains Malaysia Security Department had a successful one-day seminar at Dewan Kulia A, USM, Penang. This seminar was the 4th in a series of seminars covering various aspects of Surveillance Detection and Counter Terrorism Strategies. This seminar, attended by well over 230 participants was jointly sponsored by the Penang State Secretariat and MCPF Penang and addressed audience who comprised mainly from Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (MBPP), Majlis Perbandaran Seberang Perai (MPSP) and Polis Bantuan (Auxiliary Polis). MCPF Penang Chairman Y.Bhg Dato’ Syed Jaafar Syed Ali gave the Welcome Speech whilst the Keynote Address was delivered by Deputy Penang State Secretary Dato’ Ghazali Derahman on behalf of Penang State Secretary Dato’ Seri Farizan Darus. The program was graced by the attendance of YDH CP Datuk Wira Chuah Ghee Lye, Chief Police Officer of Penang.
Six papers were delivered: “Understanding Terrorism” by MCPF Penang Deputy Chairman Associate Professor Dr. P. Sundramoorthy; “Threats to Key Points” by MCPF Penang Ex-Officio SLC Member Puan Noor Asa Elang, Director, Chief Government Security Office, Penang; “Basic Surveillance” and “Surveillance Detection” by MCPF Penang Chairman Dato’ Syed Jaafar Syed Ali; “Wheel of Terror” by MCPF Penang Treasurer Harikumar Katherasen and “Terrorism and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) by MCPF Penang SLC Member Johnny Michael Tan. MC for the day was the magnetic MCPF Penang SLC Member James Mohan. Kudos to Organizing Chairman Rosli Mohamed Ali and various representatives in the Organizing Committee from MCPF Penang, Penang State Secretariat, PDRM, MBPP, MPSP and USM.
