Kudos to the stellar efforts coordinated under the leadership of YDH SAC Dato’ Mohamad Anil Shah, Head of Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, RMP Penang cum MCPF Penang Vice-Chairman (I) and his team in CPCSD at RMP Penang HQ and all 5 Districts. As at 18th May 2019 and close to 26 months timeframe when new VSP Membership drive was initiated from 25th March 2017, VSP membership has more than doubled the baseline data of 608,440. Penang’s performance has been simply superb. The ratio of new VSP membership per 100k population stands at 5,597 compared with N. Sembilan at 3,398 and Terengganu at 2,917 in 2nd and 3rd placing. Comparatively, Penang has now broken the benchmark milestone of having over 100k new registrants. In absolute numbers, Selangor is ahead at 136,734 with per 100k population now at 2,067. Malaysia’s overall new VSP registration is edging toward the 2,000 per 100k population chalking a countrywide stats of 1,994. The support of the public, efforts of NGOs like MCPF at State and District levels to promote the involvement of the citizens at being the potential eyes and ears of our ‘Men-in-Blue’ need to be continuously encouraged.
