MCPF Timur Laut DLC held their Inaugural Meeting for Term 2023-2035 on 27^th September 2023 at the Main Meeting Room of IPD Timur Laut. In attendance were Chairman Felix Chuah Gim Chuan; Vice-Chairman (I) ex-officio DSP Shankar Segaran; Vice-Chairman (II) Y.Bhg. Dato’ Mohd Nashir Ya; Secretary Peter Paul Arokiyasamy; Treasurer Teoh Kheng Tatt; Committee Member Kathiraveloo a/l Thangiah; Committee Member Andy Ang Jui Boon; Committee Member Mohd Mursalin bin Ramli @ Yusof (PPD Timur Laut) and Committee Member Sally Ng Chit Peng. DSP Shankar Segaran represented MCPF Timur Laut DLC Advisor YDH ACP Sofian bin Santong to help chair the meeting. In his Opening Speech, Felix Chuah welcomed the appointees of the DLC and iterated on the mission and objectives of MCPF and the functions of the DLC. He emphasized the need for close collaboration with PDRM IPD Timur Laut, District Education Office of Timur Laut, AADK Timur Laut District and other relevant agencies in carrying out any programs, projects and events related to Crime Prevention. He highlighted that SCAM Awareness was a major challenge and concern. DSP Shankar in his address on behalf of YDH ACP Sofian bin Santong welcomed everyone present and in particular to the newly appointed Committee Members Andy Ang, Mohd Mursalin and Sally Ng. He also presented the Letters of Appointment to the DLC Members. Felix Chuah presented to DSP Shankar his Letter of Appointment. Among the topics of interests discussed were a need for data and preparation and post program assessment on effectiveness of such (Dato’ Mohd Nashir Ya); concerns with regard to schools’ ‘Kelab Pencegahan Jenayah’ inactiveness due to lack of knowledge by appointed teachers (Mohd Mursalin); appropriate training and guidelines that should be accorded to teachers (Dato’ Mohd Nashir Ya & DSP Shankar); and problems related to child abuse in private kindergartens (Sally Ng). The second DLC Meeting will be held in October 2023 to discuss upcoming events and the participative roles of Timur Laut DLC.
