MCPF Penang State Liaison Committee pays a courtesy call to the office of YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang

MCPF Penang Chairman Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ong Poh Eng led a contingent representing MCPF Penang SLC on a courtesy visit to the office of YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang at the 28th Floor, Komtar on 21st April 2022.  YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow welcomed the delegates and thanked Dato’ Ong Poh Eng for making this possible. MCPF Penang Secretary JM Tan introduced all SLC Members present including Y.Bhg. Assoc. Prof (H) Dato’ Dr. P. Sundramoorthy, Advisor; Y.Bhg. Dato’ Seri K. Pulayantran, Deputy Chairman; Y.Bhg. Dato’ Maj. (H) M. Kaleessvaran, SLC Member; Harikumar Katherasen, Treasurer; Felix Chuah Gim Chuan, Timur Laut DLC Chairman; James Mohan. Barat Daya DLC Chairman; Paramaguru Balan Moghan, SPS DLC Chairman and Munusamy Muniandy, SPU DLC Chairman. Also in attendance was Victor Seow Koo Tatt, Special Officer to the Chief Minister of Penang and Penang Mutiara staff. JM Tan shared a short brief overview of MCPF including the MCPF SLC Organization Structure. Tuan Chow Kon Yeow briefed his visitors on previous KMN Safety and Security Council and its current evolved state. Dato’ Ong Poh Eng then briefed the Chief Minister on MCPF Penang’s key focus encompassing challenges involving drug related offenses and working in cognizance with AADK, rollout of quad lingual SCAM Awareness posters / billboards, reaching out to parents on awareness of crime to school children and raising issues with greater impact. The Chief Minister responded positively and encouraged that our SCAM awareness efforts incorporate support from MBPP, MBSP and to explore the possibility of working with Rapid Penang. He expressed his appreciation that Penang State was indeed blessed to be working with many NGOs on improving the state for its citizens and investors. Nevertheless, the biggest challenge pertains to ‘behavioural changes’.
