MCPF Penang & RMP Penang Contingent holds “Forum Mahasiswa Pembentuk Masyarakat Yang Berkualiti”

MCPF Penang, RMP Penang Contingent and Politeknik Seberang Perai successfully conducted a half day program “Forum Mahasiswa Pembentuk Masyarakat Yang Berkualiti” at Politeknik Seberang Perai (PSP) on 28th February 2020. Director of PSP Y.Bhg. Mej. (K) Tuan Haji Fisal bin Haroon and MCPF Penang Chairman Y.Bhg. Dato’ Seri Syed Jaafar Syed Ali delivered their speeches prior to the Official Speech and Launching of the Program by Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Lee Lam Thye, Senior Vice-Chairman of MCPF (Malaysia). Other distinguished guests included Y.Bhg. Dato’ K. Pulayantran, Deputy Chairman MCPF Penang / MCPF (Federal) EXCO; YDH SAC Zundin bin Mahmood, HOD JPJKK RMP Penang; Y.Bhg. Dato’ Seri Johny Chng of MCPF (Federal) EXCO; Puan Elmariah Chung, Director of AADK P. Pinang and other Senior Police Officers from IPK P. Pinang and various IPDs. MCPF Penang Members in attendance included Bala Karupiah, MCPF Malaysia Secretariat, Assistant Corporate Manager (Operations); Rosli Mohamed Ali, MCPF Penang Vice-Chairman (II); Dr. EL Ching, MCPF Penang Secretary / SPT DLC Chairman; Maj. (H) M. Kaleessvaran, MCPF Penang SLC Member (cum Organizing Chairman of this Program); Ridzuan Md Zain, MCPF Penang SLC Member / SPT DLC Treasurer; Paramaguru Balan Moghan, MCPF Penang SLC Member / SPS DLC Chairman; Munusamy Muniandy, MCPF Penang SLC Member / SPU DLC Chairman; Johnny Michael Tan, MCPF Penang SLC Member / Timur Laut DLC Chairman; Kenny Ho, MCPF SPT DLC Member and J. Philip Vincent, MCPF Barat Daya DLC Member. A definite program highlight was the Panel Discussion and Forum with Mahasiswa & Mahasiswi PSP. The Forum Panel moderated by Maj. (H) M. Kaleessvaran included Dr. EL Ching, Puan Elmariah Chung, DSP Wan Abdullah, Ketua Bahagian Siasatan Daerah SPT and Encik Aswadi bin Yaakob, Pensyarah, Jabatan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal PSP. This was a very good short program hosted by Politeknik Seberang Perai with about 500 of its Politeknik students in attendance. PSP (established since 1999) is a premiere Polytechnic with an enrollment of over 4,500 students and having a choice of over 21 Programs / 24 Courses. In his address, Mej. (K) Tuan Haji Fisal bin Haroon stressed that the main focus of PSP was towards the Key Development of Future Leaders. Dato’ Seri Syed Jaafar Syed Ali appreciated PSP, RMP Penang Contingent, MCPF Malaysia, MCPF Penang and AADK P. Pinang for their collaborative support of this program. He was also enthused and underlined support for PSP’s quest to set up its own Kelab Pencegahan Jenayah. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Lee Lam Thye touched on the key facets of success for the attendees encompassing Pursuit of Academic Excellence, character building, attitude and integrity, healthy and positive lifestyle, racial harmony, avoidance of crime and drugs, safety and security, proper use of social media / gadgets, mental health and stress countermeasures. The Forum was interactive with perspectives of the Crime Triangle (Dr. EL Ching); Anti-Drug concerns and new challenges like Synthetic Drugs (Puan Elmariah Chung); avoidance of misuse of gadgets (DSP Wan Abdullah); positive and motivational guidelines and the importance of family ties and good company for PSP students (Encik Aswadi bin Yaakob) and the importance of Learning and Literature (Maj. (H) M. Kaleessvaran).

PSP students raised questions on how PDRM can help to reduce crime and Drug addiction and how to treat Drug Misuses. SAC Zundin bin Mahmood encouraged attendees to use Voluntary Smartphone Patrol (VSP) application. In his closing address, CP Dato’ Narenasagaran Thangaveloo underlined various crime concerns within schools / institutions of higher learning including bullying / gangsterism, scams, cyber-bullying and sexual crimes.  He highlighted that crimes bring issues to students, parents, family members, schools / IPTs and outlined key challenges like early detection of crimes, transformational needs of crime prevention and reduction of crimes (e.g. PDRM’s use of URBs, MPVs, e-Basikal and Police Patrols).
