MCPF Penang Secretary Johnny Michael Tan (also PENSEC Auditor), MCPF Penang Committee Member Victor Lim Kok Hooi (also PENSEC Member) and MCPF Timur Laut DLC Secretary Peter Paul Arokiyasamy (also PENSEC Member) were among 30 PENSEC Members who visited the MBPP CCTV Control Room, Level 4, KOMTAR on Wednesday 29th November 2023. The entourage was provided with valuable insights by its host Tuan Muhammad Munir on the infrastructure investment to date, physical setup, process controls, maintenance and 23/7 Operational monitoring of the CCTV Control Room. Participants were briefed on the six Phases of continual improvements and upgrades since the installation in 22013. Tuan Munir also explained on the symbiotic link up with PDRM, technological upgrades (from Analog to Internet Protocol [IP] to Fiber Optics) and how this comprehensive system helps to keep an eye on anti-crime efforts, traffic controls, natural disasters (like floods / landslides) updates and ‘Hot Spot’ monitoring. This CCTV Control Centre is being manned round the clock and is a definite plus towards helping Penang becoming a Safer, Cleaner and Greener City State. A similar set up does exist over in the Mainland.
