MCPF Penang and MCPF Timur Laut DLC participated in a SCAM Awareness & Disaster Prevention Awareness Talks at 1^st Avenue Mall, George Town on 10^th March 2024 organized by Lions Club International District 308 B2 in collaboration with MCPF Penang / MCPF SLC – Timur Laut DLC, Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia (Malaysia Civil Defence Force) and Polis Diraja Malaysia. Lions Club International was led by 1. Lion Alex Ng, Zone 5 Chairperson; 2. Lion Steven Poh. President of Lions Club Georgetown Island; and 3. Lion Davin Lee. Organizing Chairman from Lions Club Georgetown Island. MCPF Penang SLC attendees included 1. YBhg. Kol. Bersekutu (PA) Dato’ Seri Ong Poh Eng, Chairman; 2. Johnny Michael Tan, Secretary; 3. Lt. Kol Bersekutu (PA) Felix Chuah, Timur Laut DLC Chairman; 4. Kapt. Bersekutu (PA) Paramaguru Balan Moghan, SPS DLC Chairman; 5. Ridzuan Md Zain, SPT DLC Chairman; 6. Munusamy Muniandy, SPU DLC Chairman; 7. Rahumathullah Ibrahim, Committee Member. MCPF Timur Laut DLC Members included 1. YBhg. Dato’ Mohd Nashir bin Ya, Vice-Chairman (2); 2. PDRM IPD Timur Laut staff included 1. ASP Sohaimi bin Saad, Ketua Cawangan MPV, IPD Timur Laut; 2. Insp. Uthman Affan bin Abdoll Kader, JSJK IPD Timur Laut (Speaker: SCAM Awareness). APM Speaker: 1. Sarjan Sergio Villenguez (Speaker: Disaster Prevention & Use of AED / Conducting CPR).

Summary: A. this was a well attended Program with ‘Community Outreach’ focus on the contemporary public concern of SCAM Awareness and to heighten better understanding of Disaster Prevention and the use of AED (Automated External Defibrillator) / providing CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). B. Insp. Uthman Affan bin Abdoll Kader delivered an interactive talk on SCAM Awareness covering main types of SCAMs and their modus operandi; SCRM 997 and live demo of CCID Portal SEMAKMULE; C. Lions Club International District 308 2B 1st Vice District Governor Lion Don Hoe delivered a short address to thank all the co organizers, stakeholders, speakers and public in attendance. D. the APM Speaker Sarjan Sergio Villenguez updated APM Penang’s main Disaster Prevention efforts (e.g. landslides, flooding). He also delivered an enthralling demonstration of AED / CPR for adult / child victims. Acknowledgement of Participating Lions Clubs: 1. Georgetown Island; 2. Penang Paragon; 3. Tanjung Star; 4.
