MCPF Penang & MCPF SPT DLC supports WCC Penang in its ‘Ok Tak Ok’ Awareness Program at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seberang Jaya, SPT

MCPF Penang / SPT DLC were invited by Women’s Centre for Change (WCC) Penang in a program conducted at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seberang Jaya, SPT where 170 6th Grade school students (86 Boys and 83 Girls / including 8 Pendidikan Khas students) were given a talk on awareness pertaining to Sexual Abuse amongst school children in WCC’s “Ok Tak Ok” campaign. MCPF Penang’s recent sponsorship of 3,000 copies of “Samir dan Rakan Onlinenya” had YBhg. Dato’ M. Kaleessvaran (Penang SLC Committee Member), Ridzuan Md Zain (MCPF SPT DLC Chairman); Thomas Goh Eng Wah (SPT DLC Vice-Chairman II); and, Kenny Ho Kee Meng (SPT DLC Member) being present to support the WCC initiative. In attendance from WCC Penang were Yen Ying (WCC Community Outreach Lead); Salma Farhanah A. Rashid; and, Nurasliyana Abdul Rahman. The school’s Principal Puan Hajah Che Asa binti Cha was present alongside En. Bohari bin Ishak (Penolong Kanan Hal Ehwal Murid); Puan Zurina binti Zainon (Guru Bimbingan dan Kaunsel); Pn. Marfuah binti Mohd Safuan (AJK Bimbingan dan Kaunseling); and, En. Kee Hang Seang (AJK Bimbingan dan Kaunseling). The key objectives of this program included 1. Awareness of one’s own body and limitations to personal private areas that cannot be touched, seen, filmed / video graphed); 2. Being able to differentiate what constitutes “OK” to be touched, and what is definite “NOT OK” to be touched; 3. Being aware of individuals who have ill intentions of sexual harassment of school children; 4. Valuing and Loving one self and to be able to take self-protective steps; 5. Countermeasure steps to be taken by sexual harassment (school) victims; 6. Talk and Video presentation on sexual harassment “Ok Tak Ok” followed by a Q&A session; 7. Distribution of “Samir dan Rakan Onlinenya” and 8. Presentation of Certificates of Appreciation to Sponsors and Speakers.
