MCPF Penang SLC Member Joseph Sawaremuthu delivers Moral Values Talk to SMK Raja Tun Uda, Bayan Baru

On Monday 30th December 2024 MCPF Penang SLC Member Mr. Joseph Sawaremuthu was invited by Malaysia Hindudharma Mamandram (HDM) as a guest speaker to deliver a talk entitled “Masalah Budaya Buli Dan Nilai-nilai Moral” (“Bullying Culture Problems at Moral Values at schools”) at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Raja Tun Uda, Bayan Baru, Penang. HDM Malaysia Penang also invited 1 other speaker from their organization (Dr. TSR Segar, Advisor, HDM Penang Branch Education Bureau) to speak to around 200 Form 3 co-ed students. Also in attendance were Mr. S.V. Manimaran (HDM Chairman, of Religious Education); Madam Nirosha (Organizing Chairperson); Madam Banuh (Secretary); Puan Hajah Sharifah Bahum Binti Abdul Rahim (Headmistress, SMK Raja Tun Uda); Puan Gitra Segar (SMK Raja Tun Uda Tamil teacher); Cik Fatin Md. Zaini Faiz (Counselling Teacher) and other teachers. Mr. Joseph Sawaremuthu’s talk covered the Types of Bullying; Impact to the victims, the bully and bystanders. He also highlighted that such students involved could likely end up being involved in major crimes and gangsterism. Joseph also shared his own experiences as an ex-Prison staff in Penang Prison & Pulau Jerejak. Four aspects covered were 1. Henry Gurney School in Melaka; 2. Life in Prison; 3.  Prison Environment; and 4. Caning, photos and types of canes (rotan) being used. He added that students inquired about death row prisoners, fighting in prisons, consequences of crime, and seriousness of wounds after caning. This is the 3rd and final 2024 event organized by HDM Malaysia, Penang Branch with MCPF Penang being invited as a guest speaker.
