
MCPF Penang hosted a Courtesy Visit by Community Emergency Action Team (CEAT) Penang on Thursday, 7th November 2024, 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm at PGC Board Room, Bt. Jambul, Penang. Attendees from MCPF Penang included 1. Y.Bhg. Dato’ Seri Ong Poh Eng, Chairman; 2. Mr. Johnny Michael Tan, Secretary; 3. Mr. James Mohan, Chairman, MCPF Barat Daya DLC; 4. Kapt. Bersekutu (PA) Paramaguru Balan Moghan, Chairman, MCPF SPS DLC; 5. Encik Ridzuan Md Zain, Chairman, MCPF SPT DLC; 6. Mr. Munusamy Muniandy, Chairman, MCPF SPU DLC; 7. Mr. Joseph Sawaremuthu, Committee Member. The Visitors from CEAT Penang were Y.Bhg. Dato’ Peter Cheah Swee Huat, Honorary Advisor; 2. Mr. Lee Ng Hooi, Chairman); 3. Mr. AnthonyLim Jin San, Vice Chairman; 4. Mr. Joseph Soo Boon Thong, Southwest District Officer. The Agenda covered Opening Addresses by Dato’ Seri Ong Poh Eng & Dato’ Peter Cheah Swee Huat; Self Introduction by Attendees: Overview of MCPF by JM Tan; and, Overview of CEAT Penang by Mr. Lee Ng Hooi; Discussion / Q&A. MCPF Penang was given the opportunity to learn more about CEAT Penang which was established on 20th October 2023. It is a fledgling NGO focussing on providing support services covering emergencies and contingencies to the Community. At the current moment it has 39 members with its current programs / activities focused on Penang Island being led by a Management Team of 7 i.e. Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Asst. Secretary, Treasurer and 2 Committee Members. Proper skilling of its members includes 1st Aid and Fire-Fighting; This Courtesy Visit is one of a series for CEAT Penang to meet up with various NGOs & Agencies to gather key learnings and understand better on potential opportunities for cooperation in particular on enhancing Crime Prevention Awareness. CEAT Penang attendees appreciated the uniqueness of MCPF as an NGO with links to the Government of the day and Royal Malaysia Police. There was a healthy and open two-way dialogue between MCPF Penang and CEAT Penang.
