The Penang Program Title chosen was “Karnival Pencegahan Jenayah untuk memperkasa Pertubuhan Penduduk (Residents Association) anjuran bersama JPPM (ROS), PDRM & MCPF.

Given the tight timeline, the respective MCPF SLCs teamed up with their respective State level collaborative partners (PDRM, ROS and AADK) to get things moving. The Penang team led by MCPF Penang Chairman Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ong Poh Eng held a series of 4 Organizing Committee meetings at Penang Golf Club interspersed with 3 Venue on-site Inspections / Meetings. Dato’ Ong chaired the initial meeting at PGC with MCPF Members, PDRM and AADK on Sunday 9th July 2023 before his overseas trip. Deputy Chairman Y.Bhg. Dato’ Seri K. Pulayantran followed up and chaired more detailed meeting (12/7/23) at PGC involving representatives from MCPF, PDRM, AADK and ROS. The first on site visit (13/7/23) to the chosen Venue Sunshine Banquet Hall Level 4 (Bayan Baru) was made with a subsequent update briefing on-site (13/7/23) done with MCPF Federal (Encik Norazlan Haji Idris and Mr. Bala Karupiah). The Organizing Committee had a thorough status review with Dato’ Ong hours after he returned from his overseas trip on Saturday 15th July 2023 at PGC. The Organizing Team met on-site for the 3rd time to fine tune details on Tuesday 16th July 2023 and met again on Wednesday 17th July 2023. Due to extraneous circumstances a decision was made to provisionally postpone the Penang program.

Faced with the circumstances, the Organizing Committee and all involved should take positive learnings from this. Key takeaways include: 1. We had a wonderful meeting that involved both MCPF Penang and MCPF Kedah members – a rare occasion to enhance comaradarie spirit between the two SLC Teams; 2. Committed Team efforts between MCPF Penang, PDRM IPK P. Pinang (primarily JPJKK), AADK Penang and JPPM (ROS) P. Pinang office; 4. A maiden outreach and communication channel established by MCPF Penang with JPPM (ROS) Pulau Pinang; 5. Increased understanding about Residents Association structure / set up and the Government program (GPPK); OC Team Members working relentlessly and diligently in a race to meet the scheduled program dateline; 6. Operational / Organizational challenges and issues that was overcome with passion and calmness; 7. Not every planned program / event / activity will run or reach its ultimate outcome; and, 8. Key lessons learned can be used as Opportunities for further Continuous Improvements.
