MCPF SPS DLC Chairman Paramaguru Balan Moghan participated in an ‘Engagement Session’ organized by Staff Officers of Community Policing, Jabatan Pencegahan dan Keselamatan Komuniti (JPJKK) Pulau Pinang together with Jabatan Perpaduan (Department of Unity) SPS; MCPF SPS and MBKK (Majlis Pengurusan Komuniti Kampung) Taman Merak, Simpang Empat, Seberang Perai Selatan on Friday 17th February 2023 held at Balai Polis Bukit Tambun. PDRM Staff Officers in attendance included Supt. Ganesan a/l Chinapan, Staff Officer of Community Policing, JPJKK Pulau Pinang; DSP Shankar a/l Segaran, Community Policing, JPJKK P. Pinang; Insp Suzie binti Ku Md Arif (KBPJKKD SPS); SM Mohamad Asri bin Man; OCS of Balai Polis Bukit Tambun and other PDRM Staff. Other public attendees were Encik Ismadi Putra bin Ishak (Asst Officer of Unity, SPS); Puan Saroja a/p Perianaigan (Chairperson of Sangam Batu Kawan); Puan Yadodah a/l P. Karpoyah (Asst to Chairperson of Sangam Batu Kawan); Encik Danish (MPKK Taman Merak and Encik Karthik (MPKK Taman Merak). This Engagement Session was to obtain feedbacks with regards to Social / Crime issues impacting the Indian community in Taman Merak following an earlier ‘Retreat Program’; getting to be familiarized with MCPF, JPJKK P. Pinang, SPS Unity Department and MPKK Taman Merak Community. The OCS of Bukit Tambun shared Crime Index and issues like youths hanging out inconveniencing the local residents, alcoholics and drunkards, ‘Mat Rempit’ and drug abusers had been on the decline since the ‘Retreat Program’. Feedbacks were also obtained from Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) members, Unity Department staff and MCPF to help overcome Social issues. Also discussed were concerns surrounding school children that had been kicked out of school, stopped schooling and involved in working whilst still schooling. Various solutions and advice were shared by PDRM e.g. engaging the youths in Fusal where Police and NGOs can hold talks / campaigns on Crime Prevention, Commercial Crimes, Mat Rempit, Narcotics and career paths for youths.
