MCPF Penang supports Penang Chief Police Officer’s Crime Prevention and Community Safety Program at Gurney Plaza

YDH CP Dato’ Narenasagaran Thangaveloo officiated at a comprehensive Crime Prevention and Community Security Program held at Gurney Plaza on 8th August 2019. The prime organizer of the event was the Royal Malaysia Police, Penang Contingent chaired by YDH SAC Dato’ Mohamad Anil Shah (HOD, CPCSD) and supported by RMP Penang Contingent, MCPF Penang, CapitaLand, McDonald’s and MPH Bookstore. YDH SAC Dato’ Mohamad Anil Shah delivered the Welcoming Address whilst the Official Address was by YDH Narenasagaran Thangaveloo. Highlights included a T-Baton Demonstration by the North-East (Timur Laut) District Police Team and a simulation display of a Snatch Theft cum swift intervention by RMP. The Official Launching of the book ‘Avoid Becoming a Victim of Crime’ co-authored by Dato’ Anil Shah and ‘Professor’ Khoo Kheng-Hor was well received by attendees who included members of the public, RMP Heads of Departments and the Key Staff. A Book Review was shared by Y.Bhg. Associate Professor Dato’ Dr. P. Sundramoorthy who ensured that all in attendance were given an insight into the exciting thoughts on Crime and Crime Prevention penned by the co-authors anchoring on ‘Battlefield’ themes from Chapter 9 of Sun Tzu’s Art of War.
A symbolic presentation of 400 copies of this book being launched was presented to the Penang State Education Department to becoming available ‘Literature’ for Secondary Schools of Penang. Letters of Appreciation were handed out to key collaborative partners of RMP. The short yet impactful program was also graced on the VIP stage by MCPF Penang Chairman Y.Bhg. Dato’ Seri Syed Jaafar Syed Ali and Mr. David Raj S. Kolandesamy of CapitaLand Gurney Plaza. The livewire (Masters of Ceremony) of this Event were none other than MCPF Penang SLC Member cum Barat Daya DLC Chairman James Mohan partnering with RMP’s Puan Norashikin binti Alladdin.


Immediately following the Press Conference, a High Profile Policing Walkabout was led by YDH CP Dato’ Naren where he personally interacted with staff of the selected Mall outlets and placed a “PDRM Pulau Pinang Prihatin / Bersama Membanteras Jenayah” sticker to the entrances of these outlets. These stickers carried the PDRM Pulau Pinang WhatsApp, IPK and IPD numbers as well as a short brief on the registration process for Volunteer Smartphone Patrol application. YDH CP Dato’ Naren then stopped by the Exhibition booths of MPH, MCPF Penang and RMP Penang Contingent. MCPF Penang SLC and DLCs need to be commended for their wonderful presence at this Program.
