It was a memorable and special day for 14 Auxiliary Police from the Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) who received their ranks from the Penang Police during an Investiture Ceremony held at the MPSP Headquarters in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam on 15th March 2019. The presentation was done by YDH DCP Dato’ Roslee bin Chik, Deputy CPO of Penang. 2 of the 14 reciepients were officers – one which we take pride in congratulating is our own MCPF Penang ex-Officio SLC Member Tuan ASP PB Amirul Arif Abdul Rahman and the other being Inspector Soleh Musa. The remaining were 1 Sergeant Major, 4 Sergeants, 4 Corporals, and 3 Lance Corporals. Kudos to all reciepients! Also in attendance were RMP Penang Contingent Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department Chief YDH SAC Dato’ Mohamad Anil Shah – also our MCPF Penang Vice-Chairman (I). MPSP President Y.Bhg. Datuk Rozali Mohamad stated that the functions of the MPSP Auxiliary Police (formed on 11th July 2001 with a 30 member team) included controlling security at the MPSP magistrate (municipal) court and preparation of summons, subpoenas and warrants, among others. Their other tasks include looking after the council’s properties and assets, controlling public order and safety during enforcement actions being carried out by other departments, and assisting the police in controlling traffic during peak hours, in addition to being involved in security during official events organized by the council and the Penang State Government.
