
It was a significant day on 15th May 2016 as two important milestone meetings were conducted at Grand Ballroom in Hotel Grand Dorsett, Subang Jaya.
First the MCPF EXCO where MCPF Penang had Dato’ Ong Poh Eng in attendance endorsed the appointments of the 2016-2018 MCPF State Liaison Committee Chairmen and also the revamped and improved 2016-2018 MCPF Standing Committees. Congratulations to Dato’ Syed Jaafar Syed Ali on being re-appointed as MCPF Penang’s Chairman and also Associate Professor Dr. P. Sundramoorthy on being re-appointed to helm the MCPF Research, Publication and Development Standing Committee.
This was followed by the highly anticipated MCPF EGM where key changes were to the MCPF Constitution was being platformed for endorsement and approval by MCPF Members. MCPF Penang was well represented by four MCPF SLC Members – namely Dato’ Syed Jaafar Syed Ali (Chairman), Dato’ Ong Poh Eng, Johnny Michael Tan (Secretary) and Munusamy Muniandy were in attendance alongside another 3 other Ordinary MCPF Members.
Significant amendments to enhance the MCPF Constitution were made on many Articles. Main ones included Article 7 (Structure of Executive Council); Article 8 (Provisions Relating to Executive Council); Article 13 (Meetings); Article 14 (Standing / Ad-hoc Committees); Article 15 (Membership); and Article 19 (State Liaison Committee).
Of particular interest in Article 19 are key developments where the post of Deputy Chairman has been included; the State’s Head of Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department of the Royal Malaysia Police (JPJKK) shall be appointed as ex-officio, one of the Vice-Chairman of the State Liaison Committee; all monetary donation or fund received by the SLC shall be allocated in full to the State Liaison Committee after transparent transactions have been fulfilled between the SLC and the Treasurer of the Foundation; and the establishment of District Liaison Committees (DLCs) in accordance with the demarcation of districts by the Royal Malaysia Police.
Additionally, three new Articles have been added. These are Article 20 (By-Laws and Regulations); Article 21 (Liabilities); and Article 22 (Notices).
